The Australian Second Army was a field army of the Australian Army, during World War II. It was created in April 1942, when the commander of Allied land forces in the South West Pacific Area, General Thomas Blamey, gave it responsibility for land forces in the Australia's most populous areas: central and southern New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Second Army headquarters was at Parramatta. Second Army was initially commanded by Lieutenant General Iven Mackay. In January 1944, the position passed to Lieutenant General Leslie Morshead. On 8 May 1945, Major General Herbert Lloyd took command.
